Caorle, a seaside and fishing town

What about Caorle? Call it "seaside resort" is certainly an understatement! You can breathe its history and tradition in every corner as it offers all of its visitors glimpses of great beauty. Ancient fishing village, with the rise of tourism it has not lost its charm and its uniqueness.

The city of Caorle was already known during the Roman period thanks to the legions who chose that area to build a castrum (legionary fort). With the arrival of the barbarians, Caorle populated more and more, becoming in the sixth century Bishop’s Seat of the city of Venice.

Among its most important monuments and characteristic areas, particular mention should be made to the cathedral and the cylindrical tower of Romanesque period; the Sanctuary of Madonna dell’Angelo, the guardian of fishermen, built around 1700 to replace the ancient sanctuary now unusable; Scogliera Viva, one of the most beautiful promenades of the Northern Adriatic; Rio Terrà, the alleys and the small squares that run throughout the whole city with its colored houses, typical of the Venetian islands.
